List of certificated Tow Car Companies
in Nevada.
TIPS FOR RECOVERING YOUR STOLEN VEHICLE:
The following is a list of helpful tips to assist law enforcement in
recovering your stolen vehicle. While there is no way to ensure that
your vehicle will be found, by using these tips you may be able to assist
law enforcement and minimize the costs associated with towing and storing
your vehicle once it has been recovered.
- Contacting the Police:
Contact the
police and report your stolen vehicle as soon as possible and fill out a Stolen
Vehicle Report. Be sure to include the following information:
The make and model of your car.
The vehicle identification number (VIN).
If possible, provide recent photos of your car.
A copy of the vehicle registration and insurance.
A list of items in the car at the time it was stolen.
Note any other distinguishing characteristics unique to the vehicle.
A list of telephone numbers where you can be reached throughout the day along
with your current home and work addresses.
- Other Contacts:
Remember to contact
your insurance company as well as the Department of Motor Vehicles
(DMV).
Most insurance carriers and the DMV maintain databases of stolen and recovered
vehicles and often work directly with law enforcement in identifying the owners
of stolen vehicles. This will also help keep any towing and storage costs
you may incur to a minimum.
- Local Towing Companies:
Finally, be
sure to contact the local towing companies that are on the police non-consent
tow list. It is helpful to provide these companies with a copy of the
Stolen Vehicle Report and information on how you can be contacted in the event
they are asked to tow your vehicle upon recovery.
If you move or change phone numbers, immediately contact the law enforcement
agency where you filed your Stolen Vehicle Report. It may take months
before your vehicle is located and if the police or a towing company cannot
reach you, your vehicle may be auctioned.
